Founded by cellist Yo-Yo Ma, Silkroad creates music that engages difference, sparking radical cultural collaboration and passion-driven learning to build a more hopeful world. The musicians of the Grammy Award-winning ensemble represent dozens of artistic traditions and countries, from Spain and Japan to Syria and the United States. Silkroad is a “roving musical laboratory without walls.” (Boston Globe) The ensemble mines a vast treasure chest of musical traditions to create something entirely new. The group has been called “vibrant and virtuosic” by the Wall Street Journal. Silkroad last performed on the Lyceum Series in 2008 and we are thrilled to have them back for our 50th Anniversary season.
